Nestled in the upper right wing of Lake Hartwell lies one of the most popular campgrounds on the lake. Visitors and locals flock to Twin Lakes for summer and fall fun. There’s no shortage of space at this campground with over 100 spots park your RV or set up a tent, there’s plenty of space and most campsites are fairly secluded with water access.
About Twin Lakes Campground
Twin Lakes Recreation Area encompasses 152 acres of land with many trees for shade. There is one area for campers, and separate public access to playgrounds and a boat ramp.
Within the gated campground, you’ll find 2 park attendant sites, 102 campsites with 5 bath/shower stations among them. There are 5 playgrounds and one swimming beach for campers. Public areas within the park include dozens of picnic tables, 2 shelters (with water and electricity), a boat ramp and dock, restrooms and a public playground and beach area.
When To Go Camping At Twin Lakes
Twin Lakes campground and park area is open year round. Campsites book up far in advance, so go online to book your dates as soon as you know them. Book your trip here.
Booking is available on a rolling basis, meaning they open sites for reservations only up to 6 months in advance. Summer is the busiest time for the campground, so if you enjoy meeting and mingling with your camping neighbors this is the best time to go.
Sites are less full in the colder months, but the weather in the Lake Hartwell area stays generally mild throughout the year making winter and early spring camping possible.
What to do at Twin Lakes
Obviously, the main attraction is beautiful Lake Hartwell which offers plenty of opportunities for fishing, boating, swimming, and more. Hiking along the shoreline is a fun way to see the lake and all the natural beauty surrounding it. Aside from enjoying family camping activities, you can also tour the surrounding areas. Tips for camping at Twin Lakes
Sites on the north portion are the most sloped
Tents are only allowed on concrete pads
Boats can be beached at waterfront sites
Even when crowded, most visitors find that there is plenty of space between campsites
There are no hiking trails within the park
Closest stores are about 10-15 minutes away
Front gates are locked from 10pm to 7 am – NO in or out allowed between those times
